The Early school children problem
This morning the talk back topic over Radio 938 live was about school children having to leave too early in the morning. This problem had been around for generations, and the problem had always been that the school bus operators had to fetch the children before fetching employees to work. All the king's top scholars could not fix this problem, as the cost of operation always override the solution, different set of buses will cost twice as much. So, school children wakes up early and their performance in school suffers. Now this radio talk comes round again, and again the same difficulties and other problems are said, going on till the cow comes on.
The irony is that nobody ever ask the children about this problem, because they have a simple solution. Their solution is that everything remains the same but everybody starts a bit later.
Ha ha ha ha ha, high IQ and all that !!!!!!!!

Puzzle - Two in four and five
On an impulse a man bought two large cans each full of oil at a bargain. Then, finding that they were too heavy for him, he engaged two helpers to carry them home for him, as he had figured out that after rewarding each a two liter portion it would still be advantageous for himself.
However when the helpers brought a four liter and a five liter container respectively he had a problem as there was no measuring utensils nor container available, except a small scoop. But being a thinking man he managed to apportion a two liter quantity in both the two containers, using the small scoop for transferring the oil, and all were happy as agreed.
How did he do it ?

Nomenclature:
Let the cans be called Ca and Cb
and the helpers containers be called L4 and L5.
The procedure:
At start:
Ca = full, Cb = full, L4 = 0, L5 = 0
Fill L5 from Ca and then fill L4 from L5:
Ca = -5, Cb = full, L4 = 4, L5 = 1
Empty L4 into Ca and then empty L5 into L4:
Ca = -1, Cb = full, L4 = 1, L5 = 0
Fill L5 from Ca and then fill L4 from L5:
Ca = -6, Cb = full, L4 = 4, L5 = 2
Empty L4 into Ca and then fill L4 from Cb:
Ca = -2, Cb = -4, L4 = 4, L5 = 2
Fill Ca from L4 and it is done:
Ca = full, Cb = -4, L4 = 2, L5 = 2

A Sunday church service story
A priest was driving along Marine Parade Road in the center lane conforming to the 60kph speed limit. A car came at an higher speed from behind to very close, then veered to the right to overtake. The driver could not do so as there was a taxi also driving within the speed limit and which was not overtaking. This driver then switched back to the middle lane, tailgated, flashed his car headlights and honked, but to no avail. Then finding a gap the driver cut left, overtook and cut back in front of the priest. As it overtook and sped off the driver showed his finger sign. The priest also looked and noticed that that driver had a rosary hung from its rear view mirror; only Catholics use the rosary, and this Catholic had hung his rosary to display his own religious belief.
"Walau eh", the priest said, "This Catholic showed his finger sign to me, and I a priest leh !!!"
This story was told to illustrate how people display their religion and their religious practice.

The Epiphany
Over two thousand years ago, three magi, one of fair skin another dark and the third brown, travelled from afar and guided by a bright star, met in Judea. These magi were Balthazar, Caspar and Melchior, learned great men who had set out to seek the Messiah according to their studies. When they arrived in Jerusalem they asked, "Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage."
When King Herod heard this, he was greatly troubled. He assembled all the chief priests and the scribes of the people and inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. They answered, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it has been written through the prophet."
Herod called the magi secretly and ascertained from them the time of the star's appearance. Then he sent them to Bethlehem saying, "Go and search diligently for the child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I too may go and do him homage."
As the magi set out after their audience with the king they were overjoyed at seeing the star. They followed it until it came and stopped over the place where the child Jesus was. And on entering the house they saw the child Jesus with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. These gifts signified Jesus' kingship, his divinity and his mortality.
Thereafter, having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way.
