Why Singapore will be less stable if a certain person does not become president ?

Why why why this and that.

If the president is without any powers, how can the president help the Garment on financial and economic matters ?
Then what is the Garment and Finance Minister for ?

If the president has no powers, how does an outsider elected as president going to make our country less stable ?
Is he an enemy, a citizen vetted by the Garment machinery ?

If the president is to protect our national reserves, should not the president be someone who is not beholden to the Garment ?
Should not he be from a second party,
or do we not trust our respected citizen who has been vetted by the Garment machinery?

If the president is apolitical, is it right for the whole Garment machinery to support any one of the candidates ?
Is not this be scoring one's own goal, against one's laid out rules ?

Presidential election 2011

There is so much hoohaa and hulabaloo going on, why so ?

The Gahment leaders have maintained their piece - the president will be like its predecessor of 12 years, no executive power, role purely to endorse some administrative functions, and to safeguard our national reserves.
So, are the people nuts about this, and the PE candidates themselves, except one, promising this and that. It is like that the Gahment and the people see no eye to bull !

That the Gahment has lost its way is so vivid here, and it is even unable to notice what the people feel and want. The people have lived with its president for 12 years and do not want such kind of president anymore. All this hoohaa is about what the president ought to be, the people's president, a president all Singaporeans will be proud of, never mind its true nature not properly conceived now, as it would evolve.

The Minister for Law has a little inkling of understanding the people, and it was reported that he said that the Constitution would need to be amended; so good, listen to the people and change then.

And who should be the president from the following candidates: TCB, TJS, TT and TKL.

TCB:
He has shown that he is a man with integrity, he has said that he had spoken out against his conscience, and that he had not kept quiet and only later make public that he had disagreed on ministerial issues. That he had quit his position when the Jurong Hospital was to be renamed as Ng Teng Fong Hospital backs what he claimed. That he has helped the poor the people know. TCB has been part of the elite; will he be able to free himself of its bond to really serve the people, and be with ordinary people.

TJS:
He came into the limelight at the last GE2001, he lost in the election and quit the political party. His late entry into the fray was quite a shock to the people who feared that he will split the people's vote. He has however won support with his positioning himself against the Gahment and his PAP alienation. He has support from some members of political party.

TT:
The shining white knight of the Gahment, with so much credentials over 20 years of public service. Although the election is non political, top Gahment leaders have voiced support for him, and he has the backing and support of clans, associations and trade unions. To say that the whole machinery of the Gahment is behind him is to simply say what is obvious to everyone who knows. Thus he is singled out as the foe of the other contending candidates.
Safeguarding the national reserves, the lifeblood of Singaporeans, is the most important function of the president. How will people see him being able to do this as he had been involved in losing tens of billions of dollars while investing in sick and dying companies abroad. And could Singaporeans still hope to know how much of the reserves is left if he is elected as president - this is what all concerned Singaporeans want to know.

TKL:
A candidate who was initially hesitant about contesting. It was reported that he even offered a dialogue with TCB to decide who between them should step aside so as not to split the vote, which noble gesture was not taken up.
He has maintained his stand on five virtues: courage, fairness, honesty, positive attitude and public service. He has displayed humility and rapport with the ordinary people, and has said that he will be the voice of the people. This is very important, but whether or not Singaporeans appreciate his qualities will be seen on 27 August 2011.

Who do we want to be our president ?
It is not what we are but what we do that makes us important.
