Citizens vs money
Singaporeans, citizens and emailers, lend me your eyes
I come not to praise the Gahmen but to raise some issues
The wrong that they did are acts against the nation
The good that are done is what they are paid to do
So let that be clear ahead.
We have hundreds of billions of dollars in our reserves.
Yet our elderly are left to cart carton boxes and aluminum cans
to raise money for their daily meals,
in an environment where being alive cost money
Where is the money ?
We have hundreds of billions of dollars in our reserves.
Yet the Gahmen taxes even those without income,
those dependent on charity, those chronically sick, those dying.
A 100 year old woman in hospital for two days was taxed $66.
Where is the money ?
We have hundreds of billions of dollars in our reserves.
Yet the Gahmen resisted to raise the subsidy for the destitute.
And they had in mind to raise the GST from 7% to 10%
only to postpone this under the people’s threat at the 2011 election
Where is the money ?
We have hundreds of billions of dollars in our reserves.
A billion would do nicely for elderly citizens who have served the nation,
a billion would do nicely to support those who are chronically sick,
a billion would do nicely to alleviate those fallen on undue misfortune.
Do we have that money ?
To have hundreds of billions of dollars in our reserves,
and not use a bit to alleviate the lives of those fallen on hard times
begs the important issue whether we love money more than our citizens
or we love our citizens more than the money.
What is a few billions in a hoard of hundreds of billions ?
Do have a care.
Ron
