President election 2011

The coming election of the president is a factual intention, but this will be a non event if a pro ruling party candidate is elected, as seen in the past twelve years. There is more significance in this election than just about the president; it is more about giving the Garmen the mandate to carry on as before the GE2011 as things have not changed much since then, increases in utility rates, transport fares, taxes and getting more crowded, citizens losing out, people dying unnaturally as the police said.

Three contenders have come forward and they have each claimed to want to make a change to this for the greater interest of Singaporeans. This is a noble intention, but before they can do anything one of them has to win the election. This is a foregone lost case unless the three of them have any thinking ability left in their individual zeal. The odds against any one of them is already 3:2 from the results of the GE2011, and contending against each other makes them lose before they begin, so why waste everybody's time and resources.

There is a slight chance though if the three of them hold a pre-election selection among themselves and then pit this one, the best of the three, to offer a one-to-one contest. This would clearly prove that they are very noble, altruistic and clear minded in the pursuit of the interest of Singaporeans. Or are they, each in his own way, having his own ambition.
