Riching rich Pooring poor

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer
Who says so, is it so, does it matter
Wealth accumulates, wealth dissipates
A sport of better than thy neighbour

Wine and venison, caviar and dance
Toil in the sun for feed from the sea or farm
Work and eat, play and shit, sex and sleep
Globe makes a turn, new day comes around

When needs are met, room for comfort and rest
All seems fair whether table is round or square
Live on a dream or dream for the very best
Hope or strive for what the future shares

Rich flashes class, travel, villas and marques
Poor survives on salary and kindly handouts
Society of sorts accommodates and resorts
So long as peace holds, is there a problem

PIGS is Poland Italy Germany and Spain
Countries teetering on brink of bankruptcy
Leaders’ style of living, nothing diminishes
Taxes, GST, king of burden for all to share

Business companies, large, big and small
Directors number mostly magnificent seven
Remuneration in bands, each near a million
Before profit and loss and all dividends

Deal makers write and rewrite the rules
Business goes global, practice universal
Politics is business, businesses rule politics
All world leaders duly financially afflicted

Lions get fatter regardless of performance
Shareholders wait and hope for the remnants
Companies in trouble call for additional fund
Investors ha ha ha ha duly respond in kind

That the rich get richer the poor get poorer
Is an ogre growing within a violent monster
A volcano may fume and roar before it erupts
Protests and demonstrations are no mean starts

Hunger hunger hunger, stay at thy quiet corner
Awake not to disturb and gnaw at the vitals
The limbs of pain to madly growl and prowl
To search and plunder to balm searing bowels

All roads lead to north or south or east or west
To riches or poverty, opulence or misery
There are two big other signs giving directions
One towards heaven the other downwards to hell

Riching the richer and pooring the poorer
Is sweet for some sitting on top of all the others
The music is exhilarating when power holds sway
Where when does it end who shall have the say
