Exchanging

Good morning,

Exchanging Something

When idle tongues exchange news there is gossip.

When sharp tongues exchange words all get insulted.

When people fight and exchange blows they get battered.

When old friends meet and exchange greetings
they go together for a drink.

Thomas Watson, the founder of IBM, said to his staff,
"When you exchange a dollar what do you have ?
You have a dollar !
If you exchange an idea, what will you end up with ?
You will have two ideas !"

A teacher wanting to impress upon his pupils said,
"When you exchange a dollar what do you have ?"
Before he could continue,
in quick succession the following answers came.
"You have some checking to do, whether you got a fake."
"You have excess weight if you got it back in coins,"
"What's the point ? It's only a dollar ?"
"You might get one with a lousy number."
"Are you passing a dirty dollar ?".
"Your offer may be rejected, coins might become obsolete"
"It's a waste of time exchanging a dollar"
"It depends on the currency you get back"

The teacher was not prepared for this,
frustratingly interrupted.
The pupils had aborted his intention.
Nevertheless he responded,
"Well, what I got is a class of smart alecks."

When people exchange quips there is a lot of wisecracks.

When people exchange wisdom with playful people,
mature or not, the result will be frivolities.

Have a nice day.
Ronald
